Privacy Policy

At Engage Community Church, we care about the people in our community — and that includes caring for your personal information. This policy explains simply and honestly how we collect, use, and protect the details you share with us.
We are bound by the Australian Privacy Principles under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cth) and follow the privacy guidelines of Churches of Christ in NSW & ACT.

We may collect basic personal details such as your name, address, phone number, email address, and emergency contacts. We may also collect:
* Family information, including children's names and ages
* Financial records for donations and event registrations
* Health information needed for camps or specific programs
* Working with Children Check (WWCC) numbers for staff and volunteers
* Photos or video taken at Church events

We only collect information we genuinely need to serve you and our community well. This includes:
* Staying in touch about services, events, and Church news
* Providing pastoral care and support
* Running our Kids and Youth programs safely
* Processing donations and event registrations
* Meeting our legal obligations, including child safety requirements

Your information is stored securely — whether digitally or on paper — and only accessed by those who need it to serve you. We do not sell, rent, or share your personal information with outside parties, except:
* Where required by law, including mandatory child protection reporting
* In an emergency involving someone's safety

We take the safety of children and young people very seriously. All staff and volunteers working with children hold a current Working with Children Check. We follow the NSW Child Safe Standards and the guidelines set by Churches of Christ in NSW & ACT.
We collect information about children only with the written consent of a parent or guardian, and we never publish photos of children without that consent.

We may take photos or video at Church events for use in our communications and social media. If you or your child would prefer not to be photographed, just let the Families Outreach Pastor or the Senior Pastor know — we are always happy to respect your wishes in this regard.

You have the right to see, correct, or update any personal information we hold about you. Just get in touch with any of the Pastors and we will respond within 30 days.

If you have any concerns about how we have handled your information, please come and talk to us first. We take privacy seriously and will do our best to make things right.
